Africa Climate Uprising: The Next Gen
Connecting and Promoting Africa’s Young Climate Entrepreneurs and Innovators
Africa Next Gen Climate in partnership with Global Climate Uprising creates a platform for Africa’s young innovators to share inspiring stories of grassroots solutions in the fight against climate change. This exciting program encourages young African leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators to share novel solutions they’ve put into action to help their communities, from urban centers to rural villages. Strategic partnerships throughout Africa will identify participants, with the best invited to COP26, for speaking and media opportunities and to connect with key stakeholders. The participants and solutions will be promoted through the website and robust media campaign. The program is led by two committed Africa experts: international journalist and producer Carol Pineau and Mathilde Thue, COO of the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA), and Delegate at COP since 2013. Development of the program is in coordination with Claude Borna, Managing Director of Sèmè City, The International Knowledge and Innovation City in Benin and Adenike Oladuso, Unicef Young Champion on Climate and founder of ILeadClimate. The initiative is in partnership with World YMCA. Additional partners/advisors include African Leadership Institute, University of Rwanda, Sanjeev Gupta, Executive Director, Africa Finance Corporation, Gebreselassie Tesfamichael, former Eritrean Minister of Finance and Development, and Director of George Mason University’s African-Led Development Program.
